Understanding Mental Health

Mental health encompasses our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. For women, mental health issues can be influenced by a variety of factors, including societal expectations, hormonal changes, and life experiences.

Some common mental health conditions include:

  • Depression: Persistent feelings of sadness and loss of interest.

  • Anxiety: Intense, excessive, and persistent worry and fear.

  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD): A condition triggered by experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event.

Maintaining good mental health involves recognizing when to seek help, practicing self-care, and building a supportive network.

Gaslighting
The Insidious Nature of Gaslighting

The Insidious Nature of Gaslighting

Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation where the abuser attempts to make the victim doubt their reality, memory, or perceptions. This tactic is often used in domestic abuse to control and undermine the victim.

Key signs of gaslighting include:

  • Denial: The abuser denies events or statements that you know occurred.

  • Trivializing: The abuser belittles your feelings or concerns.

  • Withholding: The abuser pretends not to understand you or refuses to listen.

Gaslighting can erode self-confidence and mental stability, making it crucial to recognize and address this form of abuse.
